My Little Card Shop (see what I did there....)

Like many of us bloggers I have an obsession with stationary. Notecards, notebooks, colored pencils and the like. I remember when the school holidays would be coming to a close I could not wait to get out and spend all my pocket money on a new pencil case and folders for my work. Back then there wasn't the choice there is now. Neither did I have the disposable income to buy whatever I fancied. Now a woman of independent means (ie, I actually get a wage) I get to buy those cute things cards when I like.
Stationary is quite an affordable obsession (although I suppose it depends on how much you buy...ahem...)
There are a lot worse things I could be obsessed with, but I like to think that this particular obsession brings happiness to others too, for those on the receiving end of my mail when it drops on their door mat.
Being an 'Army Bratt' and moving a few times as a young girl I kept pen pals and that is, I think where my love of snail mail came from, I still keep in touch with some of those primary school friends through snail mail as well as the obvious social media channels.
So it makes sense (when you think about it) for me to become a Phoenix Trader. After buying some cards yet again from the  beautiful collection of cards designed by British artists, I thought why not sell them myself?
I have started out with a Facebook page which I would LOVE you to come and look at, maybe even 'like' it. I plan on making this page into a celebration of all things snail mail, so it won't just be me trying to sell stuff (but there may be some of that too). Do come and say 'Hello' to me so that I know I'm not just sitting there surrounded by pretty stationary all by myself. Although when I think about that, it doesn't sound that terrible..
There's a little giveaway competition on there at the moment you could enter and win some HAPPY MAIL.
If you would like to know more, or would like a brochure drop me a message.
I must say thank you as well for the comments on my last post, I am feeling a lot better, but no driving yet as the world hasn't completely stood still but I am definitely feeling better.

Lately...

I've never been one for going on a cruise ship, but this last week I feel like I'm on one that won't let me off, last week I got out of bed and nearly fell overboard, apparently I've got what is known as Labyrinthitis
and it isn't fun. I don't recommend it.
After spending 4 days horizontal I can at least now get up but my movements are slowed down by the fact I can't turn my head or walk very quickly for fear of rocking the boat.
I'm taking some anti dizzy/nausea tablets that do seem to work a little bit at last, and I'm hoping and praying I feel a lot better next week as we are supposed to be walking the hills in The Lakes next week.
I guess if the worst happens I will just have to sit in a tea room all week very still eating cake with a straight head.
It's at times like these you take notice of the people whom you surround yourself on a daily basis. Sisters who cycle to your house in between jobs to make soup and ask if  'you need to go to the toilet while I'm here' and husbands that cook clean and generally fuss, and friends that check in on you bringing sensible gifts like ginger snap biscuits. These are the times I realise how lucky I am.
At the worst I couldn't even read, but now I can, which of course is a huge success for this reader, and now I can visit my other friends, my virtual ones who I've missed catching up with.

Another Anniversary

Another anniversary creeps up and suddenly I’ve been married to this man for 16 years. Which means we’ve been together for 26 years. More than half my life. It feels like we’ve been together forever, he was my first ‘proper’ boyfriend, I remember hesitating when he asked me to go out with him, he says he always knew we would stay together. I would say now that we’ve had our ups and downs, but to be honest, and not to seem smug, but we really haven't. People often say it’s good to argue, that it clears the air and makes the relationship real. But we just don’t really argue about anything, does this mean we are boring/bored? I don’t think so. We have a lot of adventures together, but we also have our own space, things we do apart with different people and that’s fine with both of us.
I know we are lucky that we found each other, at the right time, and that we’ve had a very happy life together, and the best thing is it’s not over yet. There are many more adventures waiting for us and I can’t wait to enjoy them with my favourite person.

Inside my HOme on Wheels

Many years ago Mr D and I visited a yard full of big green trucks and came home with ours. We decided we would upgrade from our little green caravan and buy something bigger. The box was empty when we bought it, the floor was covered in oil stains, but Mr had a vision of what it could be and I had my own.
Visiting a caravan and motorhome show we bought a cooker and fridge, the cooker being the ultimate luxury for us after years of managing to make meals on a 2 ring burner.

That bed is where I could sleep forever. I think the patchwork velvet quilt was actually the first accessory i bought for the inside, and I still love it. I can wrap myself up in that and stay there all week if I’m allowed. (I’m not usually allowed)

We spend a lot of time in here, there are a lot of shows throughout the season which we take the truck to and we try to go to as many as we can. More than once we have fantasised about just travelling form one show to the next without coming home…

The wood burner means we don’t just keep our adventures to the summer, we can park up any time of year, as long as we take the wood with us. It gets extremely hot when Mr piles on the wood in the night.

The good thing about the layout is that most things can stay on the shelves during transit, in fact the truck stays stocked up all summer which makes for a pretty quick get away when the time comes and we often use it as an emergency larder if we run out of anything at home we know we probably have it in there.

Sunday Thoughts..

Just thought you should know this, in case you miss me
Regular blogging will commence, as soon as I've finished being 'up to no good'.
